NUTRITION FOR CHILDREN

Here at Beginnings & Beyond we want to teach children and families about healthy eating.  So many foods in stores are unhealthy and lead to health issues later in life.  We are always learning and improve what we offer and   share new information we learn with families.


We provide healthy snacks for all children. This consists of two foods from at least two food groups. Snacks are available during the different work periods of the day. Children have freedom to have up to 2 snacks, at their choosing, each period.


Children who are at school during the lunch hour (12:00-1:00 p.m.) must bring a lunch. We provide a choice of water or milk. Please pack nutritious meals. A microwave is available to reheat food, but not to cook food. Children will unpack all their food and place it on a plate. Please keep in mind portion size for your child. Unfinished food will be returned to help you know what your child ate.


Items which are not allowed are:

  • candy including gummies,
  • cookies,
  • chocolate including chips in bars,
  • Jell-o,
  • pudding,
  • chips including potato, corn, veggie (dried fruit/vegetables are fine)
  • fruit snacks/roll-ups,
  • drinkable yogurt/sauces 
  • similar items.


These items will not be unpacked and will be returned in the lunch box.
